Farm Report late fall 2001

It's finally gotten cold and winter-like here, a couple of snowfalls but no permanent accumulation so far. Now my work has really shifted to knitting baby hats. I've added two new ones: a pea and a grape. I really like the new colors, they're funky and look really good on babies. There are so many new babies around me! From my good friends to my chiropractor to the bank teller, the next generation is popping out healthy and attractive. These little guys and gals are well hatted and looking really cute.

The chickens are happily ensconced in their deluxe winter coop and are constantly entertaining. I am expecting lots and lots of eggs soon, until then they will just eat lots and lots of food. The greenhouses have been cleaned up and put to bed for the winter and the cover crops look great on the fields, so I guess we're all ready for the long haul of winter.

Seed catalogues are coming in the mail every day and it's time to make some plans for next spring, even though it seems a long way off. But for now I will put another log on the fire, and settle into an afternoon of knitting.
